Let Go...

keithp — Sun, 09/16/2007 - 7:42am

A man named Jack was walking along a steep cliff one day when he accidentally got too close to the edge and fell. On the way down he grabbed a branch, which temporarily stopped his fall. He looked down and to his horror saw that the canyon fell straight down for more than a thousand feet. He couldn't hang onto the branch forever, and there was no way for him to climb up the steep wall of the cliff. So Jack began yelling for help, hoping that someone passing by would hear him and lower a rope or something. "HELP! HELP! Is anyone up there? HELP!"

He yelled for hours, but no one heard him. He was about to give up when he heard a voice.

"Jack, Jack. Can you hear me?"

"Yes, yes! I can hear you. I'm down here!"

"I can see you, Jack. Are you all right?"

"Yes, but . . . Who are you, and where are you?"

"I am the Lord, Jack. I'm everywhere."

"The Lord? You mean, GOD?"

"That's Me."

"God, please help me! I promise if You'll get me down from here, I'll stop sinning. I'll be a really good person. I'll serve You for the rest of my life."

"Easy on the promises, Jack. Let's just get you down from there; then we can talk. Now, here's what I want you to do. Listen carefully."

"I'll do anything, Lord. Just tell me what to do."

"Okay. Let go of the branch."

"What?"

Picasa Online Photo Sharing

keithp — Sun, 09/16/2007 - 7:38am

Sharing Pictures with Picasa

Picasa is a free application from Google that helps to organize photos on your computer and it also allows easy uploading to a web album that you can share with your family and friends or you can leave your albums private - with the click of a button. They allocate 1GB of space to store photos on the internet and provide a way to see slideshows of your albums.

To start, you will need a google gmail account, if you don't already have one. To sign up for an account go to mail.google.com and click on the "I want my Gmail" link on the right side of the page. After you have a gmail account, not only do you have almost 3 Gigabytes of email storage, you also have a host of other free applications such as Picasa.

Now your ready to get Picasa, so sign into your gmail account and at the top of the page you will see a Photos link - click that and you will be asked for your password once again to setup your online album. Ok, so now you have an online album, all you need now is the Picasa software - go to http://picasa.google.com/download/ to get it. Install it to your hard drive and you're almost done.

Once installed Picasa will want to scan your hard drive for photos - just point it at the place where you normally keep your pictures. After it's finished, you can choose a whole bunch of pictures or just a few and click on the Web Album button at the bottom of the Picasa application. You may have to enter your gmail username/password here as well.

That's it!

new stuff

keithp — Thu, 08/16/2007 - 7:36am

Looks like things are moving along nicely here at First Agape with the new CMS - more tweaks will be happening as the school year gets started and people really start using the new system...
