Biology 2010-2011 Teacher: Mrs. Foster Class Information
1. I hope you are excited about beginning a study of the fascinating world of biology. Much of what we will study will be new and amazing as we learn about the microscopic world with the intricate detail and complexity God created in even the simplest life forms. Even if you don’t consider yourself a lover of science, I think you will be surprised and interested by the things you will learn in this class. I look forward to meeting you in September.
2. Please print these two pages for your reference. The first page is general information. The second page is the Module Schedule for the first module which you will need to begin on September 13.
3. The Module Schedule should be kept with you while you complete your work for biology each day and can be used as a check list. The schedule includes the pages to read and also other work to be done each day. This schedule will be your guide to complete work on time and stay on schedule. It is up to you to stay on schedule.
4. We will spend 2 weeks on each module. This gives us 10 days to read, have class, study and test. Each module will follow the same pattern as shown below:

*Please note that there are reading assignments on Tuesdays and Thursdays in addition to class which should be completed before class on those days.
5. If you haven’t already done so, I strongly suggest you write out the vocabulary words for each module on 3x5 cards. It will be best to do this ahead of time so that you will be able to study the vocabulary all throughout the module, not just at the end. Knowing your vocabulary will be the key to understanding the class and doing well on the tests.
6. You should have the textbook, Exploring Creation with Biology, Wile and Durnell, 2nd edition from Apologia.
7. I will supply lab notebooks, Module Schedules, study guide copies.
8. Supplies you will need:
a. A 3-ring notebook for note taking and keeping papers organized.
b. Set of colored pencils for lab drawing (keep this in the 3-ring notebook so you will have it when needed.)
c. Loose leaf notebook paper and pencils or pens for class. (I don’t want to waste time in class with hunting down paper and pens or pencils. Please stock your notebook for the year with plenty of these items and you will always have what you need.)
9. During the year I will communicate with the class through the First Agape website. You can post questions for me there and I will add information or announcements. I will check the site daily for your questions and you should check it daily, too.
10. Planning ahead. Please set aside a phone book which we will use for pressing leaves (Module 14.)
