Excellence in Writing Level C2- Fables

This week will be an interesting homework assignment.  We looked at styles from Guy Wetore Caryl  or James Finn Garner.  You need to rewrite one of the three fables on page 47 using either style:  Story with satire, political correctness, or poem.  We looked some poems up in class.  Here are 4 you can choose from if you decide to use poems:

  • ABC poem

An ABC poem has a series of lines that create a mood, picture, or feeling. Lines are made up of words and phrases. The first word of line 1 begins with an A, the first word of line 2 begins with a B etc.

Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow

  • Haiku Poetry Type is a Japanese poem composed of three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables. Haiku poetry originated in the sixteenth century and reflects on some aspect of nature and creates images.

  • Ballad Poems

Ballad Poems are poems that tells a story similar to a folk tale or legend and often has a repeated refrain. A ballad is often about love and often sung. A ballad is a story in poetic form.

  • Epic Poems- 

Epic Poems are long, serious poems that tells the story of a heroic figure. Some of the most famous epic poems are the Iliad and the Odyssey by Homer and the epic poem
