update on Lynn's Brother

beckyw — Thu, 03/04/2010 - 8:54pm

James made it through the surgery - it took a little longer than they planned as they needed to do more work than first anticipated. He is currently still in recovery.  He will have the plates and screws in forever- which I had not realized. It will be a tough few days in recovery as he will be very swollen and bruised but then he should heal and be back to normal. One of the nerves in his cheek had some damage so his cheek is numb and may or may not recover. It could take up to a year. It will be a slow recovery and he has been warned not to go too fast and over due it too soon.

He and Emily (his wife) are extremely appreciative and amazed at the amount of care, concern, prayers, and support they have received through this. They definitely see the hand of God working through his people. The hospital where he works is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner and all the proceeds will go to them. His church and several other local churches have sent financial gifts.  I also found out he will qualify for short term disability. The doctor said that if he had been hit further on either side of his face he would have been killed or at least blinded.

Thank you all for your prayers, support and encouraging words to me and my family.
