Update on Paul Zalewski

beckyw — Wed, 06/30/2010 - 8:50pm

I meant to send an update last night but I just fell asleep when I got back to my room.  It was a GOOD sleep!  He is at Mass General.  Everyone has been so great, very professional yet personable as well.  He, only by God's great orchestration, has the best cardiac surgeon on the East Coast, and I've heard top 10 nationally.  Specialist in aortic surgeries.  God's hand as been all over this!!~~Diane

God is so amazing!  Surgery went very well!  Paul is moving through the recovery process at the quickest possible pace!  So quickly that they are shooting for 5 days in the hospital instead of 7!  That's OUR GOD!!  This morning he was still in surgical ICU only because there weren't any beds available on the step-down floor.  So, he had pancakes and raisin bran for breakfast---22 hours after surgery---in the ICU. :)  They moved him to the floor this morning.  He is off all IV meds, has minimal discomfort (well, today), is alert, sitting up, and has walked the unit a few times.  Tomorrow the emergency pacemaker and chest tubes come out. To God, all the glory!

Paul is testifying to everyone he can; In words and actions.  The staff loves his attitude.  It can be a very depressing place to work.  His nurse told us that it is such a blessing to have a patient like Paul, with a positive attitude (and a heart after God!) We are humbled to be a witness of His mercy, love, grace, and peace!  What a God we serve!

So friends, God is answering our prayers!  And for myself, He has granted me such grace.  During Paul's surgery I did experience that peace beyond understanding, He IS my portion; He IS my strong tower!

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers.  Our God is ever faithful!
Love,
Diane
