Wow, I never do this....

JoyG — Fri, 12/14/2007 - 9:51pm

Hey ya'll! Uhm..............................................................yep, this why I never do this..I mean, uh, what am I to write? Oh, Oh! I know (hehe, it ryhms)! Here's a riddle try to guess what it is, and say what you think it is in a comment. Kay? All righty then....lets do it!

He clasps the crag with crooked hands,

Close to the sun in lonely lands,

Ringed with the azure world he stands.

The wrinked see beneath him crawls,

He watches from his mountain walls,

And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Can you guess what it is??? Good luck!

P.S. We had our Christmas early, it was awesome.

The answer is...

jolynnT — Fri, 08/01/2008 - 7:46am

I know the answer to your riddle, Joy.  The poem is about an eagle.  The poem was written by the famous English poet, Albert Lord Tennyson.  How do I know this?  Do you remember my son Micah?  He had to take a college English course where he had to analyze a poem of his choice.  The Eagle was the shortest, most straightforward poem he could find!  I did the same thing you did when I was helping him attack this poem.  I had Micah ask several people to read the poem without seeing the title, and decide what it was about.  I was surprised when my husband, a pastor, said it was a description of Satan!  But that makes sense too.  Another homeschooler, who is very well read, said it must be a warlock.  Tennyson is one of my favorite poets, and he successfully has the obvious and the sublime going on in this poem simultaneously.  Keep reading great poetry!!

Hi Joy, I just read your posted poem. Did you write it? It's very nice.  I'd like to guess The Old Man in the Mountain?

Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 9:11

Hey Joy! I don't know what the answer is... couldn't figure it out. But then again I didn't try very hard to figure it out. =) hehe Hey, it's kinda late. We should get together sometime! We live right around the corner from each other, and it seems like I never really see you! =( Hope to see you soon! ~KatieS
