History in the Making - Lesson from History (1400's-1700's)
Grades 6th – 8th on Thursdays from 9:05-10:05 Room #144
One class for Both Fall & Spring Semesters
We will be learning about history from the era 1400's - 1700's. We will be discussing people and places like:
- Johann Gutenberg
- Christopher Columbus
- Da Vinci
- Vespucci
- Michelangelo
- Martin Luther
- Magellan
- Copernicus
- Pilgrams and Puritans (lap book)
- Galilei
- Shakespeare
- Rembrandt
- Leeuwenhoek
- Colonial Days (lap book)
- John Wesley
- Newton
- Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel
- Fahrenheit
- Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert
- Industrial Revolution
- American Revolution (lap book)
- George Washington
- Jefferson
- Franklin
- Captain James Cook
- Napoleon Bonaparte
- literature set during the time periods
Cost: $20.00 for the entire school year (2 semesters). To keep your spot in class, please pay by August 1st.
Additional Info.: There will be some homework here and there, but most of it will be done within the class. We will try to use the hands on approach when it allows. Discussion Questions will be used each week to help understand who or what we are talking about. We will also be touching on Bible verses that pertain to the subject, Geography, Social Studies, Life science, phylsical science, and earth science and lap books. Two to three lapbooks will be done during the class. Three are chosen to use, but time will tell what we will get to. Please make sure they have pencils, crayons/colored pencils, scissors, and glue. Students are unable to participate if they do not have the right tools for the class.
